The roots of the university began in 1976 when Dr. Hongo began teaching in his clinic in Koreatown, Los Angeles. The clinic grew into the Royal University of America that supported the surrounding community by providing charitable health services. In 1997, one of Korea’s top universities, Dongguk University founded by the Jogye Buddhist order, joined forces with Royal University and the school was rededicated as Dongguk University Los Angeles

DULA Notice on COVID-19
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, access to DULA campus is currently limited only to “essential” employees. Currently DULA has issued DULA Covid-19 Prevention Plan which serves as the initial guideline for all DULA staff, faculty and students. The overall guideline for health and safety is planned in several phases. Once all phases are completed, the complete guideline will be published to all DULA staff, faculty and students. All academic activity at DULA is currently offered via distance learning. Further updates will be informed to DULA community when available.
